Human male / woman head

4th-6th century CE. One side depicts a human male head and the second side the bust of a woman, which is a rare combination. The shackle is missing.

Roman Padlock, 1st to 3rd Century AD, Bronze, Discoid Shaped Body, an arched Hinged Hasp Which comes to a Peak, The Body and Hasp Have Zigzag Detailing. 
The first padlocks, requiring a metal housing and sprung steel, were invented by Roman engineer-smiths sometime around 100-200 AD.
