My first lock was found hanging on the toilet door of the lodge at Namche Bazar during the Everest trek back in 1988.​
It was  broken. One of the nepali villagers direct me to a blacksmith out of the village and he repair it using traditional methods.​
Since then I start to collect old locks during my journeys all over far east Asia.​
